We aim to empower Muslim youth with their Islamic identity, tackle modern challenges on a grassroots level and generate competent leaders.

In 2019, a concern was raised by teachers & students at the MIA Liverpool Saturday Madrasah about the challenges facing youth and harmful ideologies. A vision was created & NextGen was born. Then a Shura was formed and planning began. After a sleepover and a hike, the fortnightly events began.

Fortnightly sessions were thriving with 50+ attendees each. COVID hit, but events continued online. The shura had a bigger vision

NextGen organised two major camps, which became the first flagship events, receiving more attendees than the fortnightly youth nights.

New ideas and initiatives were added: field trips, sleepovers, sports competitions. Reach expanded to other masjids, Islamic schools & community groups. During this time, the importance of leadership was cemented in the vision and mission, leading to Annual Leader's Trips to train future leaders from within the Shura.

The long-awaited NextGen Umrah took place – a major milestone and big step in the journey.

As we look ahead, Nextgen continues to grow and expand its reach. We're committed to empowering more Muslim youth, strengthening our community connections, and developing the next generation of Islamic leaders. View Impact ReportTo empower Muslim youth with their Islamic identity, tackle modern challenges on a grassroots level and generate competent leaders in Australia and beyond.
We're dedicated to nurturing a vibrant community of Muslim youth by providing engaging events, annual camps, and leadership development programs. Through these initiatives, we aim to strengthen Islamic identity, address contemporary challenges, and cultivate future leaders grounded in faith and service
NextGen takes a "two-pronged" approach in our strategy. We have found this to be the most effective way in enacting our mission statement. We have divided our activities into two distinct categories; internal and external.

We aim to attract young people to the masjid to provide young Muslims with a safe environment to develop their Islamic identity in order to assist them in tackling modern doubts and issues, and fostering a sense of community, belonging, and friendship. It also creates a safe space for these attendees to explore and develop their skills, identities, and visions under the guidance of mentors.

The NextGen Shura follows a 5-year focused mentoring program where members are nurtured and developed at a personal level pertaining to their Islamic identity, developing an Ummah-centric mindset, and cultivating the skills required to be an Islamic Reformer. The program is quite rigorous and thorough with numerous workshops, leadership trips, and one-to-one engagements - a scrupulous process in nurturing the leaders of tomorrow's Ummah.
